The Dragon Descends over Ha Long Bay

Upon the tranquil turquoise surface of a traditional Vietnamese conical hat, a little dragon glides through clouds and sky.

This is the Little Dragon of the Mekong Delta. When the river of his homeland slowly dried, he journeyed across the land, gathering clouds to bring back rain and restore life to the river. His flight is not only a passage through space, but a journey of care and devotion.

Exhausted along the way, the little dragon gently descends to rest over Ha Long Bay. In Vietnamese, “Ha Long” means “the Descending Dragon.” The setting is a quiet play on words — a moment where the dragon finally lands, embraced by sea, sky, and drifting clouds.

The blue tones evoke water, breath, and renewal. The sky opens like a luminous circle above, symbolizing hope. Though small in form, the dragon carries resilience, compassion, and the enduring spirit of protecting one’s homeland.
